Monitoring radioactive levels in dust around nuclear generation facilities and nuclear waste facilities has always been a key defense against contamination and potential harmful releases.
Typically this is done through the use of a particle sampler such as the Ecotech Hi-Volume air sampler, where particulate matter is collected onto a filter paper for analysis in a laboratory and accurate concentrations of radioactive materials can be determined. However, the challenge has always been to obtain a sufficiently large volume of air through the filter in order to have enough sample mass to measure very low concentrations and background concentrations.
Ecotech's MegaVol Sampler has been specifically designed to meet this challenge with a flow rate of between 120-150 cubic meters/hour to sample a much higher volume of air in a much shorter time. The MegaVol will maintain volumetric flow rates at a pre-set volume until the filter is either changed or overloaded. The MegaVol can be equipped with a modem in order to remotely monitor flow rate and other diagnostic parameters such as temperature, pressure and wind speed and direction.
Simple to operate and easy to maintain, the MegaVol is the ideal sampler for measuring low concentrations of radioactive materials and trace heavy metals in airborne dust.
